Achievements in Drama
Our school is renowned for its achievements in drámaíocht in recent years. The school community recognises the importance of drama in relation to developing confidence, inspiring teamwork and providing valuable opportunities for language learning. Every child is given an opportunity during their time at our school to participate in a stage based drama production, and Rang 4 usually enter the Féile Scoil Drámaíochta each year.
We have been successful in reaching the All-Ireland final of this festival almost every year. Last year, both 4th class drámaí won the All-Ireland final of their categories with the dráma ‘Paddington’ and the ceoldráma ‘An Nanny Foirfe’. Not only this, but ‘An Nanny Foirfe’ was awarded the title of ‘Scothléiriú na Féile’ as was ‘Thíos Faoi na dTonn’ the previous year, which was a huge honour for the school and for Rang 4 Mary.
Oilibhéar agus a Chairde
This year, the children of Rang 4 thoroughly enjoyed the staging of their drámaí ‘Oilibhéar agus a Chairde’ and ‘Jeaic agus an Gas Pónaire’ under the direction of múinteoirí Deirdre, Siobhán, Máire, Ciarán and Gearóidín. Although the Féile had to come to an end due to Covid-19 restrictions, the school was still awarded a number of prizes at Féile na Gaillimhe and Connachta, including overall winner of their own category, dráma nua-scríofa is fearr, and best actor on both occasions. We are extremely proud of the work and efforts of páistí Rang 4 and very grateful to Múinteoirí Rang 4 for the hard work involved with the drámaí each year.
