Debating Competitions

Rang 6 participated in the ‘Sr. Mary de Lourdes Fahy Galway Primary Schools Debating Competition’ again this year and we progressed to the quarter final stage of the competition.

We thoroughly enjoyed researching a wide range of motions as well as debating against each other in class as we prepared for the various competition rounds. The children learned valuable life skills such as language development, public speaking skills, research and organisational skills and most importantly their self-confidence grew immensely. Our competitions were held in Oranmore and in The Galway Education Centre and GMA’s debating team was fantastic on each occasion. We are so proud of their achievements. We hope that the children continue to debate and develop the skills that they have learned from this experience in secondary school and in their future endeavours.
