Sustaining our School
Why We Need Your Support
Every morning, our children walk into bright, warm classrooms filled with learning, laughter, and Gaeilge. While State funding covers staff and some running costs, it does notfully meet the real expenses of operating a large, modern school. State funding does notfully cover basic costs like heating, electricity, cleaning, insurance and maintenance.
Consequently, for the last number of years, there has been a shortfall of over €100,000 that must be raised independently. To protect what we’ve built, Gaelscoil Mhic Amhlaigh is launching the Sustaining OurSchool initiative — a simple, community-based support programme where familiescontribute a small, steady monthly amount to help close this gap and sustain the highstandards our children deserve.
History
Our school started with less than 20 pupils on the 1st of September 1993 with less than 20 children. The school grew over the years, in different locations. Now our school provides education in our Gaeltacht school in Lána an Mhuilleora, Knocknacarra, to nearly 650 children.

This initiative provides predictable, sustainable income that helps the school plan withconfidence year after year. It is also tax-efficient, as the Revenue scheme adds an extra 31% to qualifying donations. Most importantly, it represents a shared effort and shared benefit, every family contributinga little so the whole school community can thrive.
What Your Support Funds
Your monthly contribution covers the everyday essentials that shape your child’sexperience at school. These include Educational Resources, Electricity, Heating, Cleaning & Repairs, Maintenance and Insurance.
About the Scheme
Gaelscoil Mhic Amhlaigh participates in the Charitable Donation Scheme, which allowsregistered charities and approved schools to claim 31% tax relief on donations of €250 ormore in a calendar year.
